It’s Time Again…

I confess that I rather enjoyed making fun of Sarah Palin’s lack of knowledge during the last election. (Oh god—remember how Putin’s head was going to float into Alaska?!) I have never laughed so hard during an election season in my life. I’m sort of ashamed of that, but at the same time, I was terrified to learn that according to the latest Gallup poll, Sarah Palin could stand a good chance of winning the Republican nomination.

If she were just in her own little world, doing her own little thing, it’d be fine. But I don’t find her appalling lack of intelligence and knowledge acceptable in someone who’s a contender to run the freakin’ country!

So, without further ado, Palin’s latest gaffe:

“This speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously we’ve gotta stand with our North Korean allies.”

    Really?

I find the distinct lack of knowledge in the gentleman that resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a completely terrifying reality.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t feel safe or secure with him at the helm.

Frankly, I am surprised that you would be dumping on Sarah Palin. At least she has the balls to say what’s on her mind because she has her country’s best interests at heart. I certainly can’t say the same thing about the President.

  • And to think there are those who voted for her. I think she sunk the McCain campaign and I have to wonder why, out of all the intelligent women in politics, did he picked her? How the heck did she pass the interview process? Oy vey!
I dabble in local politics and I can say for sure there are a lot of uninformed voters out there. I say, if you don’t know who you’re voting for…stay home!

    • This is the truth, Aimless! I’ll never forget when I first got to Arizona, someone told me that they loved Sarah Palin and wished she would be president because she ate meat and spanked her kids. I kid you not.

(I personally have not heard her say or seen any evidence that she does actually spank her kids. Just relaying the conversation.)

  • Kathy Calarco says:

I wish with all my heart that Hillary Clinton runs.

As far as Palin, the only thing I’ll give her credit for is her knack for getting people to like her. And with a growing majority of ignorance in this country, she’s preaching to the choir. If she EVER is elected president, we can rest assured that the country will self-destruct, opening the gates for a foreign invasion.

  • How could anyone possibly support someone for president who couldn’t even finish out her term as Governor of Alaska? She quit on the people of her own state. What’s to say she wouldn’t quit on us all?

  • Edie Ramer says:

Considering her hand-picked candidate for governor of Alaska didn’t get elected, I don’t think it’s a shoo-in that she’ll get the nod. I hope not.

  • Melanie says:

I’ve been thinking the exact same thing you said in the post all weekend. It terrifies me that people think she’s qualified to be a WORLD leader. Of all the intelligent women out there, I can’t fathom why she’s become the poster child. As Kathy said, she’s done a wonderful job getting people to like her, but I cannot see that translating on a global lever.

    *shudders*

  • Stacy says:

Don’t feel ashamed. Someone on the pulpit who can’t get her countries straight deserves to be made fun of. She put herself out there, after all.

  • Rick says:

She might have just made a mistake. And there’s no real chance she’ll be president, is there? Too many people enjoy saying she’s not smart enough.

Personally, even though he’s dead, I’d still vote for Walt Disney if he ran for office. Disneyworld is still running well, it’s clean, the representatives aren’t affiliated with the same old leftists and rightists and they, unlike most politicians, aren’t ashamed of being cartoon characters.

  • Robin says:

I miss the SNL Sarah Palin skits. They need to bring those back.

Our country is just completely wacko. She’s on reality tv! We’ve lost our marbles. Why don’t we just pick a president like they pick future wives on “The Bachelor”. The candidates keep getting roses, etc. We deserve Sarah. I give up.

BTW, I don’t think she has our nation’s welfare at heart. She quit on the governorship of her supposedly beloved state. She has her pocketbook at heart, and she loves attention and fame. I don’t see much more substance than that in this woman.

  • Lana says:

And so we see how effective the overall dumbing down of America has been…

  • I have no shame over making fun of her. She thinks she’s smart but she barely earned her college degree and she was governor of a State with a smaller population than some of the mainland’s biggest cities. She was, essentially, a mayor. I honestly don’t think she could hold up in a basic conversation that consisted of more than soundbites. Gimme a break. I wish she’d GO HOME.

That said, I don’t think she can hold up in an election for President any better than she did in her election for VP.

  • Elizabeth K says:

I believe all this hubbub was over a slip of the tongue on the Glenn Beck show, which she quickly corrected.

I am certain politicians, who are in front of the microphones all the time, make plenty of mistakes. Like for example Obama saying he campaigned in 57 states when he meant 47. And it seems to me that depending on the political leaning of the press association, it either gets blown totally out of proportion or swept under the rug.
