Strange Obsessions
I am dying to get an apartment or rent a house. Not for any logical, sane reasons, and not because I’m not happy just as I am (I am! I’m comfy in my little RV! I love it! And it saves money!), but because I can’t stop thinking about painting walls.
It’s a little crazy.
I’ve always alternated. I had several apartments where I could only have the walls white (BLAH. Makes me CRAZY.), and when I got to the first apartment I could paint, I used COLOR.
We’re talking COLOR in all capitals.
It was lovely. My living room was this rich red and gold that was so warm and inviting and comfortable. The studio was pink with a pearl sheen sponged on top (pretty, but color-wise, not a good choice because it makes people irritable). The office was grass green with enough white sponged on top to tone it down some, LOL. And my bedroom was this gorgeous warm and golden peach color.
My next house was a rich blue for the office, a pale, china green for the bedroom, yellow/orange for the waiting room, and an inviting beige with a comforting blue accent wall.
(Once I have color, my next place is always toned down.)
And now, I have no way to paint. There’s only windows and a few inches of wood paneling.
So I’m dying to move into a place and paint the walls. I want that peach back, but I’ve also been fantasizing about purple: a deep, royal purple.
Painting the walls doesn’t strike me as a good enough reason to give up my freedom, but…
What color are your walls? If you could snap your fingers and your walls would be a different color, what would they be? Do you ever crave a color?

Oh my. I kind of like white walls. Our walls are white upstairs and narrow wood panels downstairs.
I would sort of hate that, LOL. I’m sure it’s pretty, but I’d hate living in it.
I’m not a big fan of painting. I can do without it.
I don’t much like the painting… I like having painted walls.
Right now, everything’s white. When we bought the new place it was new, and we couldn’t justify the expense of painting it.
Our last place was a bit of a wreck, cosmetically speaking, when we bought it, so we had it painted and all new carpets and such before we moved in. It was awesome.
The main living area was a cool blue, with darker blue trim and window returns and such, and the carpet was a wonderful variegated with blues, plus some lavender and some grey. (I spilled a whole glass of grape juice on it once, and after just soaking it up with a towel, I couldn’t tell it’d been stained.
)
The kitchen was a bright, sunshine yellow with darker yellow trim, plus the louvered doors that covered the washer and drier were grass green. The linoleum was basic dull-white-with-grey-grout, since it was in decent shape and we needed to cut down on the floor covering expenses a bit.
The upstairs hall was the same blue paint and blue-variegated carpet. The computer room had off white walls with dark green trim and spicy brown carpet. The library/craftroom had medium green walls (kind of like lime sherbet, but maybe a shade darker) with white trim and a dark kelly green carpet.
The master bedroom had rich purple carpet with pale pink walls that looked lavender next to the carpet. The master bathroom had white linoleum with a pink/yellow/blue flower trim on it, and in there the same paint that looked lavender in the bedroom looked pink.
The hall bathrooms both upstairs and down were the same yellow as the kitchen, but the upstairs had the same linoleum as the master bath, while the downstairs had the same old white/grey flooring as the kitchen, for the same reasons.
There are some things I wouldn’t do again (like painting the window returns a different color — I wanted the contrasting trim colors and was looking for places to put it in an area where actual trim as in molding or whatever is extremely rare) but I loved the colors.

That sounds GORGEOUS!!! Oh wow, yeah, that would be a pain with the windows. I really like yellow. Gosh, I’m dying to live in colors again!
After living in a bunch of color for a while, I sometimes crave neutral tones or white; but after living in white for a while, I go crazy for color!
