iWorries & iWaffles

I’ve been possessed of indecision lately. About everything. I have, no kidding, THIRTY-NINE blog posts half-started, half-written, some almost-all-written, and then I think, “meh.”

What is up with that?

A lot have to do with how I write. They seem so silly, because how I write is not how to write. So what use is that to you?

Others are political. And if I post about politics, then I have to be open to debate. Honestly, lately, politics make me tired. In general, people aren’t interested in listening, they are not open to changing their minds no matter what the facts are, so debate seems pointless. And sometimes… a lot of opinions are so uncompassionate that it just… I don’t know. As a society, we dehumanize and we withdraw compassion a lot. And that makes me tired, too.

I’m… I don’t know. I look around and I cry a lot. And the politics surrounding what I consider humanitarian issues make me cry.

And feel defeated.

imageA few blog posts are rants, and those just seem self-indulgent, and I worry people will take it personally and think I’m talking about them. And really, does the world need more negative energy?

Then there are some to do with my travels, but I want to wait until I can post pictures, and my camera is broken. I should be getting a new one in a couple weeks.

Some are to do with books I’ve read. But honestly, I find book reviews just a little bit boring. I used to do posts about how an author did whatnot, and that was interesting to me, but I’m not sure if it’s interesting to anyone else.

I’m the same way with commenting on blogs. Unless the blogger actually asks a question, I don’t know what to say. You know? So I just read and don’t comment.

*sigh* What is this? I’m Eeyore today or something.

So which blog topics that I write about do you like best? Which should I do more? What should I talk about? Any other ideas? I’m lost.

And how were your holidays?

Yeah, I agree politics are not fun to write about. I mean, for instance, for six months the politicians have been arguing about how to maintain the health of insurers rather than how to ensure healthcare for people. Makes me cry too.

I like lots of what you write but in particular tales of your adventures on the road (or in a roadworthy home beside the road) are fascinating to this non-traveler.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

Isn’t that the truth, Eric? Between that and the animosity of those against health reform… I’m just tired.

I need to write down impressions from my life here before I forget them!

The way I look at it, there are 1,000 things to be upset about everyday, but there are also 1,000 things to be happy about. I choose to focus on the happy things.

I would love to hear more about your travels and the fun things you are doing – like the movie day, things you are seeing around you, life in a camper and campground etc.

  • Sounds to me like the recent Mars retrograde got to you. Hang in there!!! (and stop by the Meet and Greet; there’s some two-part Trevor fun involving … oh, go see!)

  • Edie says:

You can’t go wrong with cat pictures. Besides that, I guess topics on your life and your writing life. I know! Not helpful. Your blogs are always good for me.

Maybe because we share a sign, I’m in the same boat. I’ve written many blogs that I’ve deleted — including political blogs. Not as much as you, but that’s only because I don’t blog almost every day like you.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

LOL, Edie. You must not have noticed… I’ve been blogging once or twice a week for nearly four months now. I have major blogger’s block!

Yeah. I hear you. It could be the astrological doings!

  • I don’t much like political blogs either. You’re right, no one seems interested in potentially changing their mind, only in keeping their thoughts protected. any kind of writing talk is fun for me, of course. And travel. I do like pics of travel, though.

  • G says:

I’m a bit picky when it comes to politics. I have a lot of unresolved hostility left over from the chat rooms, so I have a tendency to shoot from the lip on a few of the politically left leaning blogs I read.

Having said that, one topic that I am curious about are the genres you write in. I know you’ve made it clear that your alter ego writes erotica, but what else do you write?

    • Natasha Fondren says:

LOL, G! And I’m a bleeding heart, so I’d drive you nuts. :-)

I mostly write erotica. It’s… rather light erotica, and heavy on genre, like fantasy, contemporary. I’ve done others, but those are the big ones.

I also do pop culture essays. I have one on Janet Evanovich’s Perfectly Plum series, in Perfectly Plum, and this April, I have one on Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series, in Ardeur.

  • I’m feeling ya, sister. :) My blogs are both basically dead because I feel like I have nothing interesting to say. Don’t talk about writing anymore because there are hundreds of bloggers out there who’ve said it first and better (yourself included). Politics – uhg. That just leaves my cat, and really, who cares about that but me? (and maybe a handful of other cat lovers) :)

However, I love reading about your writing, where you are in the world, your unique living circumstances. And of course, the cat pictures. :)

    • Natasha Fondren says:

Aww, Kate. I love the cats. :-) I’ll try more cat pictures. I even have a blog post, unfinished, about my cats in the camper! Or maybe I posted that one, already.

  • RJ Keller says:

I like reading book reviews and would be interested in reading about what you’re reading. But I think you should blog about whatever’s on your mind when you sit down to your keyboard.

  • Kath Calarco says:

You know something, Natasha, you recently mentioned writing the story of your heart. The way I see it, your heart is always here in your posts. Keep on doing that. Blogs are the one place to let it all hang out, self-censorship not allowed.

Staying true to yourself is what keeps me returning for more. :)
