I Haz a Happy!

I am fiercely loyal. To a fault. So the other day, when a friend posted one of those super cute puppy videos, my gut reaction was “Pfffttt. I’m a cat person.”

BUT… I got a puppy! A puppy! A puppy!

When he walks beside me, he sorta bounces happily up and down. It is SO cute. You wouldn’t believe what a good dog he is. In the store, he never tired of interacting with the visiting people, BUT he wasn’t crazy excited, either; he was calm and relaxed.

I got a dog because I always planned to when two of the cats died. Thankfully, they didn’t die, but they’re going to the ex. :-( And I wanted a dog of my own to grin at me and keep me company on my walks. I walk a lot, so why not have a dog?

My biggest fear was that I’d feel tied down, and I’d want to go and do things, but I’d have to worry about letting puppy out. As it turns out, I can’t wait to get home to puppy.

Who wouldn’t want to rush home to unconditional love and adoration? He is SO excited to see me. When I wake up, he RACES across the room, like, “Mommy’s up! Mommy’s up! Mommy’s up!”

But last Wednesday or Thursday, when carrying him out in the morning, I fell off my top step and banged my head on the concrete. My arms were too busy protecting puppy to brace my fall. :-( So I lost about three days of work to a slight concussion, and I was oddly dazed, disoriented, and confused for several days. I mostly slept. It was freaky and surreal. My brain is clear again, but I still can’t run or laugh without the headache returning, so I expect it’ll be awhile before I’m normal again.

He was SO good though: he just patiently and happily sat in my arms after the fall, like “that was an interesting way to exit the RV!” After a few minutes, I was able to utter a whimper, and he licked my face.

His name is Padfoot Atari Worf, or P.A.W. I couldn’t decide between the three.

I luvs the puppy so much! He’s a cutie, right? It’s not just my bias?

Oooooohhhhhhhhh! A beautiful puppy! PAW looks amazing.

Hope you feel much better very, very soon!!!

  • Definitely a cutie. Pups are so much fun. and so loving.

  • No, it’s not just a bias. He’s priceless. What kind of dog is he?

He is adorably cute, so it’s not just you. :D I want to cuddle him and give him scritches.

Oww on the bump. :( I fell on the stairs (luckily while going up rather than down, but still, I hit my head on the wall) just a couple days before we left on our first cruise. I was intermittently dizzy, and the world felt like it was swaying now and then. So of course I got on a ship, LOL! I joked that the movement of the ship and the swaying in my head cancelled out, so everything felt normal. :P

  • Good lord! Did you get that bump checked, to make sure you didn’t fracture anything? Yikes!!

Puppy looks very sweet and mischievous. Is he a lab mix, or something else? Two words of advice: Obedience Training. You want him to come when you call No Matter What, and to be handle-able when he gets bigger.

I miss my dog, but oddly don’t miss having a dog and am content with the cats. But Tim’s dog, when he visits, stirs everything up, lol.

Cute. Dogs are certainly more loyal than cats, but they make you feel more responsible too. With cats you can always say — well, if that’s the way you’re going to act, the hell with you!

I hope you have that head injury looked into. Concussions can be very tricky and dangerous. I know that baseball teams take them much more seriously than they used to.

Oh, he’s such a cutie pie!!

Adorable–this is an objective truth! Very happy for you on the dog front! Bummer about the bump on the head!

Very sorry to hear that your kitties had to leave. My husband and his ex shared a couple of dogs for a while. When one had to be put down, we tried to keep the other one, and even got it a friend. His ex didn’t agree with our keeping the dog and ended up having a lawyer draw up a threat to have my husband arrested and a civil suit against me…so we gave the dog back and got yet another dog. Worked out fine for me–we were instantly, finally rid of her. (No kids in the picture, but she kept treating my husband as sort of her extra husband…I’m sure old habits die hard.) It was probably hardest on the dog who was used to haveing company and had to go back without his friend. Sigh.

I’d love to have a puppy, but today I can barely take care of myself.

  • Robin says:

He’s totally adorable! (I’m an unbiased friend.) He’s gorgeous!

I love cats, but I love dogs, too. It’s just different. My dogs feel like my little cute and stupid buddies. Not unlike my sons. My cats have felt like supportive, furry friends.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

Hah! I just bet you are, Robin! :-)

Totally different. I love how dogs look at you like you’re the best thing in the whole world. :-)
