Earth-Shaking News

We had an earthquake! A new Arizona experience! It came from Mexico, and by the time it got all the way to where I was sitting in the Borders cafe, it felt like someone was massaging my toes.

My last snowbird friend is leaving the campground in the morning. I am sad. I am very sad. I adore these people and can’t wait until next winter when they all come back. I have a mental list of who’s coming back in which months, so already I’m looking forward to November.

Yesterday it was in the high eighties. Glenn and I went RV shopping (didn’t buy anything), and I was hot and overheated and panting and dehydrated in shorts and a tank top. In Ohio, this is as hot as it gets!

Meanwhile, all the Arizonians were still wearing pants and long sleeves.

Yes, I’m staying for the summer. (90% sure.) No, we do not yet have an air conditioner. (60% sure we’ll get one.)

I want to say something interesting, but I can’t think of anything. And that is how my writing is going. So I am going to harness the magic of blogging and request of the universe that after I finish this thing I’m currently writing, that–

–my YA be a “gift” book. Fast and easy and quick.

Please?

If you had one thing to ask from the magical blogosphere genies, what would you ask? (Okay, don’t get all world peace on me, here.)

You should get that air conditioner. This is just the beginning of April. It’s going to get much hotter.

Good luck with your request to the universe. I’m asking that my books sell. Soon. For a very nice amount. :)

  • Rick Moore says:

Yes, do get that air conditioner! And yes, good luck is coming your way. Good things do happen to nice people and you deserve it.

  • I got a laugh from your earth shaking news, glad it wasn’t traumatic.

No world peace? Should I ask to win the lottery so I can write in peace, or that my manuscript find a publisher? Hmmm.

  • christina says:

Is this your first summer in Arizona, because you are going to need a pool and an air conditioner. When the air conditioner went out during the summer, we’d have all the doors open, fans on in every room and spent most of the day jumping into the pool and wearing wet bathing suits around the house. I laugh every time I read the poem about the Devil creating Arizona as a vacation home.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

I bet, Christina! So is it true, that in this altitude, it won’t be so bad? I heard that when it’s 120 in Tucson, it’ll be 100 here. I hope. We’ll see. :-)

  • Melanie says:

Was this your first earthquake? They’re freaky, aren’t they?

Good luck with the summer. I sympathize.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

There were two in Ohio, growing up. One made my dad fall down, LOL. My first one. I was all the four-year-old version of WTF? LOL!

But since I’ve never been in a bad or damaging one, I think they’re sorta fascinating. I mean, I felt it here, all the way from hours and hours away in Mexico!

  • Joey says:

Won’t your AC be awfully inefficient in that leaky camper?

Will this YA book hopefully launch a series?

I would ask the genies for the skill to write in rhythmical iambic pentameter so that I can crank out some blank verse and sonnet sequences.

    • Natasha Fondren says:

Probably, Joey! We’ll tape up a bit, but I can position it right next to me, since it’s such a small space. :-)

      I hope so!

I hope the genies grant your wish!

  • Right now, for me, let me make it through this week.

  • Travis Erwin says:

I guess I’d ask to make the next cut in the Amazon contest. Yeah I’d love to ask to win it, but I’ll take it one step at a time.

  • Robin Altman says:

    Ha! World Peace! World Peace!

Sorry. I could never resist stuff like that. I’m a brat at heart. Babe, you’ve really got to get an air conditioner. Seriously. It’s not good for you. We used to live in New Mexico, and I remember it going up to 100 degrees or more. Take care of yourselves! (You too, Glenn!)

    • Natasha Fondren says:

You contrarian, you! :-) Yeah, probably I do. Once it hits ninety, all thoughts of saving on electric and stuff will fly right out the window. :-)

  • Kath Calarco says:

I’m asking the genies to get you A.C.

  • LaDonna says:

Hey Spy, seriously I had to turn my AC on for a bit today, just to get the TN heat out of here. We should have a cooling period in a couple of days, and I LOVE having the windows open. Today is first time I needed to flip the switch, though. I’m babysitting the granddogs, and I think they’re feeling perkier now.

I’d definitely ask the genie for a gift book too. It’s been awhile, and I do love them!

    • Natasha Fondren says:

LOL, Ladonna! Lots of people turned on their AC last week, and the power went out in our little town. I love the fresh air, too! And with the camper as small as it is, I can feel like I’m outside, even when I’m writing inside.

Gift books! Yes! Yes, yes, yes! For you and me both, PLEASE!
