Be Brave, Little Girl…
My brain is odd. I can’t get the show tune, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” out of my mind. You know the one?
You wait little girl on an empty stage
For fate to turn the light on
Your life little girl is an empty page
(Okay, we’re just cutting off the part where it says a woman is an empty page until men write on it… ‘cause you know, that’s doggy poo.)
My brain kept changing the lyrics:
Be brave, little girl, it’s an empty page
For you to type the words on.
Silly.
And lately it’s been like a skipping record:
Be brave, little girl—
Be brave, little girl—
Be brave, little girl—
Be brave, little girl—
Yes, I think in musical.
Even if I buy chocolate at 9pm, it melts by the time I get home. I’m operating on a serious chocolate deficit. I think I’ve only had about three pieces all summer long. This is the problem with my life.

Natasha, I love your lyrics better.
I admire your chocolate restraint so much. I’d like to cut way down on my sugar intake.
Awww, thanks!
It’s really not restraint, Edie. Literally, the chocolate melts into complete goo by the time you get it to the car. In seconds. It’s just impossible to eat in this heat.
That song has always infuriated me. I saw the musical for the first time when I was eleven, or so, and immediately wanted to punt that mini-Nazi.
Isn’t it terrible, Avery? I fell in love with it long before I had a brain developed enough to consider the message. I still love the musical but do hate Rolf!
Great, now I’ve got that dork Rolf’s face in my mind and I’ll be singing “So long, farewell, etc…” all night. Thanks!!!
You wait till you get home to eat chocolate? No, no! chocolate must be consumed ON THE SPOT with plenty of “nom-nom-nom” noises. You know, go all Cookie Monster on that stuff! That’s what chocolate is for!
Here’s a tune for you:
Don’t wait little girl
Til’ you get home
To open up your chocolate
lol…
Even on the spot, it melts! Right away! I can’t even get to the car with it!
LOLOL, but I love your song! I’m thinking it’ll work in a couple weeks here.
Can’t you just take the candy bar over to the ice cream section, open the freezer door, and happily gobble it down while cold drafts of air waft all over you?
I still love that song. I’m with you. I saw it before the message could make me barf, so it’s still in my heart. I love when they dance on the benches in the pavilion. Sigh.
LOL, Robin! That’s an idea!
Awww, me too. I do love that scene in the pavilion thingy! So sweet.
Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
