I love this! I felt like this last weekend when all I did was read Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. It was so enjoyable, but I felt positively trapped!

Ha! So, so true. But then, of course, the chapter ends on a cliffhanger, so you have to read the next one, right? (That one, incidentally, also ends on a cliffhanger, so...)

I'm a former Borders employee (my city had two! We were lucky...) and yes, I still miss them. Not just the retail experience, but the time spent with friends and co-workers wandering the aisles looking for something new or something old to share. I came across your blog post today and thought I'd share a song my friend and I wrote lamenting the closing of, not just Borders, but other bookstores we've known and loved. They seem to be dropping like flies...

Thanks for the reply!
I'm trying to (hopefully) create a html source document that will work across both Kindle and EPUB, and Kindle will let you get away with a lot of stuff that EPUB throws errors at (at least when trying to feed it into Apples publishing software for ibooks). Like for instance, you (apparently) can't have text just in a blockquote, it has to be in a P or some other block type tag? Granted, I could just get rid of the blockquotes and do the indent. That would probably be just as easy, and easy to fix with find/replace. something to think about next time I try running it through to see what errors I'm getting now.

Ok, tried more things, and if I put the class on the P instead of the Blockquote it worked like I wanted it to. don't know why it would make a difference in mobi, but whatever.

<blockquote class=’quotetext’><p>
becomes
<blockquote><p class=’quotetext’>

At least it was an easy fix, since find/replace can handle this situation.

Hi Andy!

If this is for Kindle, blockquote doesn't allow p tags inside it. I'd do one or the other, and since Kindle is so inconsistent with the margins on its blockquotes, I'd just set the margin in the quoteref/quotetext CSS and go with p class="quotetext" ... Also you want to use double quotations, I believe? Good luck!
